Duke
I am wondering what the oil capacity is on a long tail 5 speed (280z/zx, naps-z, etc.) I am running a Naps-Z tranny with my KA and I want to know the exact fill capacity. Can anybody help me out? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The FS5W71B holds 2 liters or 4 1/4 U.S. pints. But in reality it takes what it takes. It that ends up being 4 1/2 then that's it. Fill through the fill bung until it won't take any more and your done. I jack the driver's side up and this raises the fill bung slightly so a very small amount of extra oil is added. Make sure you use GL-4 specified oil. GL-5 is NOT an up-grade replacement nor is it strictly compatible. Nissan calls for GL-4. Quote Link to comment
slodat
Duke, when I put the long tail ZX FS5W71B 5 speed in my car it was empty - no gear oil in it. I put two full quarts of Redline MT-90 in it and it wasn't running out the fill hole yet. I bought another quart to top it off and got sent out of town. If it is dry, I'd buy three quarts to fill it.
