79 620 dome light & lighter no worky

When I first got the truck the headlights didn't work. So I got lucky and found that the switch was issue, just was sitting too long and the connections were dirty. Now I still am unable to find the problem with the cig lighter and the dome light. The manual says cig lighter has an inline fuse, just doesnt say where. And the dome light, I've tried changing the bulb, cleaning the lamp, and cleaning the little door switches. Still no worky::confused:

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Test for power by removing the cigarette lighter and using a meter or test lamp in the socket to be sure it's dead first. The fuse is shown taped into the wire harness near the 10 and 12 pin connectors on the cab side of the firewall behind the glove box. It's an inline fuse on a Red/Yellow wire that connects to a thick black wire that comes from the fuse box on it's way to the battery.

As far as the dome light, I just went out and bought one of those new LED lights that stick to the roof with a magnet or you can use velcroe (sp) .

It would be nice though to get it to work so I could use the light for my truck bed at night.

But I just don't feel like messing with it.

Of note, the lighter and dome light are on the same fuse. So is the underhood light.

Are you 100% positive that the fuse isn't blown? The ONLY things on that fuse are the 3 things I mentioned above and the likely not installed highly optional clock.

Also check that the "hot" wire is even hooked up to the lighter. Sometimes it got disconnected to power the memory on an aftermarket radio. The dome light was "hot" all the time, and the ground was switched on an off (by the door switches or the dome light switch). That can be checked with a multimeter, to see if the dome light is even getting power anymore.
