Dirtyowlnumber4
Trying to get the rear main seal on my J engine, seems like the one generic parts store one is too thick. Should I buy one from Australian ebay for $120? Could I just get some hardware store rope in there? Seeing a lot of info on how to install these but none on how they're sized. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
How do you know it is too thick? Have you tried to install it? They are designed to compress a ton and sometimes are so tight that it makes turning the crank difficult. Can you not find one by application? Forklift service and parts place might be able to help. datzenmike
Haven't seen a rope main seal since the late '60s. Dad's '51 Chev I think. Looked like a waxed thick cotton clothes line 1 Quote Link to comment
