I found a 1966 WPL411 outside of Dallas, glad to be a part of the community.

my father is excited to bring an old car to life [he has plenty of old VW experience to help me]

it's in very good condition considering it's only been sitting for 14+ years haha

engine is mostly complete, inside seems very clean although I have yet to inspect under the carb.

previous owner said it turned over by hand 14 years ago.

parts I already know I need to see if the engine still turns:

- Distributor cap [ordered already]

- Fan/Alternator Belt

- Valve cover gasket

- Valve cover bolts [4 missing] 

- Air filter

 

Other parts needed:

- Keys [not upgrading to electric ignition]

- Trunk lock

- Window seals/rubber

- Rear/Trunk window

- grill [prefer custom to make custom if anyone has experience $400 is too rich for my blood]

 

Goals/Plans

 

I really love this car, but if anyone makes me a decent offer I might take it, but until than, I'm going to keep her and make this the new family car.

I'm not worried about interior as I already have experience personally customizing or repairing other personal vehicles. also I have experience with the electrical half of the car, and already have a new wiring harness sorted out, and do plan to upgrade from the glass fuse box.

I also think if this engine doesn't work out, I may turn it into an E car

(hate me all you want, its what I understand, and these little guys would pull with a fork lift motor, in my opinion.)

any advice, especially as to what older model Datsun's body parts will help rebuild this.

another plan, although it would look weird, but unique, I'm looking into old Jeep grills, or Suzuki Samurai grill covers 

to hopefully protect this car from potential wildlife, as I live rural.

Instead of google drive, go to google photos. Create an album and then put all the pictures into the album. There will be an option to share, generate a link, and then post a link. That way anyone can go see the entire album of pictures.

If you search on a Nissan or Datsun site your dad will find that 411 only returns VW answers, Nissan has abandoned the 410 and 411 even from their own maintenance software.
