Rattlehead
Hi guys new to the site. Recently bought bought my 521 pick up and I've had the pleasure of dealing with wiring from a "sound system" I pretty much removed as much as I could and got it back to stock looking at the wiring diagram. I'm having issues with the stop lights. The running lights work. But not when I step on the brakes. New fuses, New brake switch, cleaned fusebox From what I've read so far, there's always supposed to be power running. With my multimeter I have checked and I get poer to the fuse(yellow circle) but not to where the wires connect. This has me stumped. Any one have ideas where to go from here? Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
You're saying that there is power at the yellow circle but no power at the blue? circle? 1/ Are you checking on the fuse case or the brass clips that hold the fuse? 2/ How are the blue terminals connected to the brass fuse clips. Rivet? Quote Link to comment
Rattlehead
@datzenmike I went around checking wires for continuity having the main green/yellow wire from the diagram wire tell my multimeter its grounded due to the driver sided tail lights cleaned grounds, took tail lights apart and TBH I don't know how but they started working. Not sure which was the main issue/factor so I'm not satisfied, but I've been at this for days and I'm not gonna question it right now haaha to answer your post, yes the blue didnt give me 12v but the yellow did 1. I checked the all the brass points and fuse for any sign 2. I believe its riveted) Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
521 most time is corrossion around the fuse box as it gets wet. as for the brake switch you should have power at one side of the switch as it always has power to to. even when the car is off. this is known as the COMMON circut ,ex dome light maybe cig lighter ect. so when you hit the brake the light come ON nomatter if on or not. PS good looking truck!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
