Berkybot
The 3VZE is a 3.0 v6 made by Toyota in the 80s and 90s. The engine was pretty underwhelming at the time but I was wondering if it was possible to throw it in a 720 and if it would be better than a z24. I’ve heard they have respectable torque which would go well with the possible dually conversion im considering. Any ideas or advice let me know, thanks. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Oh, you mean the 3 point slow? Not a great motor by any means, but yes, it would make more power than a Z24. A better swap would be a KA24. It makes 150hp minumum, which is about the same as the Toyota V6. It's not a bolt in swap, but it would at least bolt to the trans and fit better overall. @]2eDeYe makes motor mounts for a KA swap. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I just had a thought. If you were building a crawler, then yes, the 3.0 would be better than a Nissan motor. SImply because of the transmission and transfer case options. You can bolt an R151F Turbo trans to it, which has a 4.3:1 first gear. From there, the RF1A t-case bolts up, with gear options as low as 5:1. No Datsun/Nissan combo can even compare. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
3.0 is a terrible choice. The 3.4 however... 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
Stinky
The 3.0 a bad motor....I tend to disagree. Its power is adequate. But, not spectacular. It is a durable motor and lasts 250-300K Quote Link to comment
