SupDoc
Does this picture show the correct way to route the coolant hose, when bypassing the heater on a L16/L20B? Or should you just plug off both ends (not connect them with a hose)? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What ever you choose, coolant flow must be stopped just like when the heater control is OFF. Most of the year the above picture will work, but on extremely hot days that's hot water being routed right back into the engine by passing the radiator and that will stress the cooling system. 1 Quote Link to comment
RLJ
Never thought of that. Makes perfect sense. Going to put a plug in mine. Quote Link to comment

I think what you got is the same just not the heater in series with it. 90% of the time I have my heater valve open for extra cooling if one can call it that Quote Link to comment
RLJ
If you’re not running the heater and you have a hose going like the op picture put a 5/8” plug in that hose. Like Mike pointed out if the hose isn’t plugged your pumping hot water into to motor inlet for water making things hotter in hot weather. I cut a 5/8” bolt and stuck it in the hose at the head fitting. Added a clamp where the plug is to hold it in place. Quote Link to comment
