Austin36 Posted February 5, 2023 Report Share Posted February 5, 2023 How’s it going new to the Datsun world I have a Suzuki samurai with a Datsun l20b , I’ve read an watched about everything I can still can’t figure it out the motor won’t start I’ve had it going but running supper ruff for about 5 min , I’ve checked all gas lines an changed gas filters , I’ve changed cap an rotor spark plus an wires I’ve also made sure the motor is tdc by removing valve cover making sure marks line up,an front two valves are shut when at tdc the distributor position is pretty much straight up an down with small side facing front of vehicle pointing rotor Diver door direction pls let me know what I’m missing I also have firing order 1,3,4,2 , the carb has also been freshly rebuilt with a redline kit for this motor it’s a 2 barrel Webber Quote Link to comment
mojojojo78 Posted February 6, 2023 Report Share Posted February 6, 2023 A Datsun in a Samurai. That sounds cool. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks? Manifold to head, carb to manifold, any hoses going to the manifold like PCV valve or vacuum advance. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike Posted February 6, 2023 Report Share Posted February 6, 2023 Ohhh... Check the firing order is 1342 counter clockwise direction. If reversed 2 and 3 are wrong and running on only two cylinders. Check the cold valve lash is 0.010 exhaust and 0.008" intake then do a compression check. This will show if it should run.
