datzenmike Posted June 21, 2023 Report Share Posted June 21, 2023 4x4 wheel bearing preload is set without driveshaft installed. Tighten 58-72 ft lbs. Loosen Turn wheel both directions several times. Measure starting torque (A) on lug with a fish scale. Turn lock nut 15-30 degrees in tightening direction. Turn wheel both directions several times. Measure starting torque (B) on lug with a fish scale. Preload C is B - A and should be 1.59-472 pounds. Repeat till C is obtained. Install driveshaft. 2 Quote Link to comment
