1984 FSM, Owner's Manual, Parts replacement and cross over parts and any other information

Recommended Posts

Howdy, With online only searches I have acquired FSM manuals for 1980,82,83, and 86 720's and I need an 84. FSM's are listed on ebay for over $100 and that's not gonna happen. There are two websites that list a downloadable FSM for an 84, but one is actually the FSM for an 82 and 83 and contains no Z24 information, the other is a 119 page 84 FSM that is in pdf format and the first 10 pages are missing. I contacted the owner of the site and he said the only way to save it to my hard drive would be to open/copy and paste all 119 pages.

I am looking for options, anyone have or know of any of the documents in the title, downloadable is fine. Are there other avenues of information about my truck?

Finally, if a complete FSM is not located at a fair price then are there important differences between the 84 and 86 trucks, that make the 86 FSM not advisable , for an 84?

Thank you for your time,

After April '85 there were Z24i fuel injected engines. Not clear to me if Z24 and Z24i were available at the same time or not. '85 and on have some changes to the transmission also like the 62mm counter bearing. Emissions equipment was different nearly every year. '85-'86 had a seamless box with inner cargo liner.

So.. I already went and did download and assemble that file with the 10 missing pages into a single pdf. Link below.

There are also 2 1983 FSM including a mid year revision (not sure on the difference actually) here is the link for that:

Here is also the 1983 Service manual supplement, I would assume this was rolled into the first revision, but I do not know.

I wrote a lengthy reply and the timer Gods got me. Have to remember to always write posts in Word. Unfortunately, that excuse is like writing your wife.  “I would have included cash in this letter, but already sealed the envelope.”

Your work ,keeping the manuals alive, is very appreciated. Do you maintain  Model number decoders or any decoders,  for the other numbers and letters, on the  passenger side, engine bay  data plate?

No worries, and like most who do this type of stuff for the enjoyment of it the praise is appreciated.

I don't have any Model number or any decoders. It never really occurred to me actually.
