grannyknot
I just hung the headliner today from the bows, my question is about how far up the roof apron does the headliner get glued, is suppose to be glued to the flat of the slope on the apron or just touch bottom curve before beening glued to the pinch weld? Thanks Quote Link to comment
iceman510
Good question. I will be getting to this soon. Any evidence of glue residue there now? I will have to look on my car. I would think you could only glue on the pinch weld and let the material naturally wrap over the curve, but gluing a bit on the curve might help locating it. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
The material of course is wrapped around the window seal flange. You will glue is at the flange, so it is free all around. You will pull in all directions to get wrinkles out and clip or use the windlass to hold on after glueing for it to dry. Do not put glue on that spot you are marking. Only on all the edges. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
grannyknot
Thanks guys, I figured it out. I'm using the E6000 glue which take 24hrs to cure so I applied glue to the bottom curve and both sides of the pinch weld and clamped it with those binder clips, works great, very strong stuff. yenpit
Hopefully only glued along the flange, NOT on the 3+ inch wide rail where you were pointing with the pen! As mrbigtanker said, the headliner "floats" & hangs from the bows everywhere in the middle, except where it is glued all around at the front, rear & side flanges. Do you have the necessary "hardware" at the top of the C pillar? There was a piece of masonite at the top that gave it the crisp straight edge, where it overlaps the headliner. I don't remember from your thread if you bought as a mostly complete car or in pieces.....?? I will have the "hardware".............PM if you need! I have seen upholstery shops try other approaches, which usually look like crap! 1 Quote Link to comment
