where can i get a output shaft for my 720.(the short one from the trans to the transfer case)

hi guys i am in need of a 720 output shaft. the one i have is letting oil leak out of the trans beccause it is scored. does anyone know where i can get a new one?

There are two and they depend on the length of your 5 speed. The transmissions are either 26" or 31.5" so the primary driveshaft to the transfer case will be longer or shorter by 5.5". You will need to specify the length you need.

 

 

At some point smaller U joints and driveshaft tubes were used and later ones are larger. This shouldn't matter as the splines and seals are the same.

 

 

You might also find it easier to just swap the front part with the spline. Again there were large and small U joints so it would have to match yours. I think the change was probably '83.

The yoke matches the yoke from most other datsuns and even most subarus.  You should be able to swap a different one on.

 

Also many drive shaft shops have the ability to weld up damage and turn piece back down to the correct diameter.

 

Third you may be able to put a repair sleeve on it depending on the damage.

What he said....build it up, the turn. It down.

 

There are a bunch of dif coatings out there that will work.

 

If the shop cant do it, talk to a machinist and a coatings place...
