Trans removal on 1983 datsun 4x4

Recommended Posts

Throwout bearing has become separated from the clutch fork it seems, from what I understand the trans will have to come out. Is it easier to drop the tranny or remove the motor with the tranny attached? if dropping the tranny does the front diff/axles/ have to come off or not?

Miss-read this. Take the rubber boot off the arm and carefully detach the clutch arm off the pivot ball. Use a flash light. The collar will need to be turned so the arm can clip under the spring ends. I think this is do-able.

They are right, it's worth trying to do without pulling anything apart.

That being said, since you have a 4x4 its far easier to pull the motor. I've done both ways and pull the engine every time now.
