521 hot spark dizzy swap

Hey I just did a dizzy swap to get rid of my dual point distributor I bought the hot spark dizzy with the coil for 130$.It was a easy swap only 2 wires to reconnect and a slight mod to the timing plate . It already runs much smoother now and I haven’t even put a timing light on if yet

Curious what the resistance of the coil is.

I kept the ballast resistor but  they said that was optional with this coil

3.3 primary resistance

Use without the ballast or use your 1.5 coil with the 1.5 ballast. So this answers if the spark is stronger or not. The 'hot' spark only gets rid of the points. A major upgrade in itself.

Yeah nobody enjoys changing points constantly.only time will tell how long this setup will last but as of right now I’m happy with the results

Changing is a pain, we used to file them down too but then they have to be set correctly. As they wear down the timing changes toward retarded as the gap opens. They will probably last  forever as there are no moving parts on it.

i used to keep a spare set of points in the glove box as well as a piece of 600 grit sandpaper 

I changed a few sets on the side of the road 

running petronix now have had it since 2011 with no issues
