abbylind
Heated fuse means more current is being drawn for the circuit. Somewhere something is drawing current. Follow the circuit and see if there is something added or tapped into the circuit. An area where the wire is rubbing against the body or frame is also a possibility.A direct short would cause the fuse to blow. If its the marker lights circuit start by removing the lights and sockets one by one. A corroded socket could cause a partial short and draw more current. Your working with a 40+ year old system a lot can happen. Start with the basics trace the circuit look for worn spots. check the lights and sockets. Check the switch see if its corroded or shorting. Electrical gremlins are a little monster. I restored old radios from the 30s-40s the damage from heat, time old components, and bad repairs takes time to sort out Good luck Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
It could be as simple as a bad bulb too - one that lights AND shorts. BUT if that's the case, the secondary problem will also heat up. Quote Link to comment
Trod8812
Secondary problem? Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
The fuse and the location of the current draw - such as the bulb or the short between 2 wires, or the faulty ground, or ??? Could be the wire at the back of the fuse box shorting. This just requires hard work tracing wires after you cut the loom open. Follow the heat to the problem. Quote Link to comment
abbylind
If the fuse box including the connections on the back are corroded then there is your probable culprit... Clean them and use dielectric grease with the connections when reassembling Quote Link to comment
Trod8812
My fuse box is setup like this New ones for sale on eBay are setup like this I was wondering if they were comparable? Quote Link to comment
