Heated fuse means more current is being drawn for the circuit. Somewhere something is drawing current. Follow the circuit and see if there is something added or tapped into the circuit. An area where the wire is rubbing against the body or frame is also a possibility.A direct short would cause the fuse to blow. If its the marker lights circuit start by removing the lights and sockets one by one. A corroded socket could cause a partial short and draw more current. Your working with a 40+ year old system a lot can happen. Start with the basics trace the circuit look for worn spots. check the lights and sockets. Check the switch see if its corroded or shorting. Electrical gremlins are a little monster. 

I restored old radios from the 30s-40s the damage from heat,time old components, and bad repairs takes time to sort out
