datsunfreak
Just wondered if It was a dirrect swap as far as fitment and drivetrain differential etc It's a direct swap. Only difference is the short block. As for the smog police, don't tell them. They're never going to notice. ^_^ Quote Link to comment

Cleopatra Jones
Isn't that bill for smog in Cali going up again for a vote In 2019? So close thanks for help guys I think they were trying again last year. Not sure where it's at. The bill only covered pre '81 though. Boo! Just make the shit to a car turning 30 years old period like it used to be. I think I read something about 35 year but that's just for classic car status. I haven't read anything lately about the bill being tried again. 1 Quote Link to comment

dat521gatherer
Nice. You have a clock!! I need to try to put one of the ones I bought in. Not sure about the wire plug or clock style or mounting. I wonder if 1980 was the same as your 1981. Quote Link to comment
Cleopatra Jones
I grabbed it from a 210 in a boneyard a couple years or so ago and had it fixed so it would run again. All square eye 210s should be the same. I'm not sure about the round eye. Dashes are different on those and I think anything in the gauges are a different size. I love that clock! I was soo happy when I found it. Quote Link to comment

Kamikazi240z
Hello, I’m a noob here but not new to Datsuns. I have only owned 6 cylinder Datsuns in the past (3 240s and 1 810). This is my first 4 banger and it seems that the 210/B310/140Y are the unloved red headed stepchild of the Datsun world. I bought a 1978 2 door 210 and thought it would be as easy to find parts and info for it as it was in the 240 realm that I used to play in, but I was so wrong about that! For now I would just like to get my $600 car running and perhaps find a donor car or parts to start vamping it up into a streetable road race sleeper that I might be able to take to track days somewhere (I don’t think there are any within many hundred miles of me, but it sounds like a good idea). I really have no idea what swaps easily into these, particularly on a budget now that I am retired and on a fixed income. I am of course familiar with the RB engines as they are frequently used in the 240 world, and I’ve heard of SR and CA engines but I think they are almost as costly as the RB. Someone mentioned that the KA? engine was relatively affordable and produced some decent power? I really want to stick with a Datsun powerplant if possible before looking at other even less costly alternatives. Then of course there is the rest of the drivetrain and brakes and suspension and so on. First on my list though is finding what kind of seats to install, as mine is missing the drivers seat. I understand that mid 90s Honda Civic seats might fit well, does anyone here know what I might be able to use? The car does run but needs a some love to be drivable again. 1 Quote Link to comment
dukerollo
That looks like a clean little car. Welcome to the board. I've swapped an l20b into mine, but it doesn't really fit without a welder. It will be similar for a KA. A CA18 is psyically smaller and may be easier. Or just go nuts on the A series they are good little engines. Ford escort seats pretty much bolt in, but put my head into the roof. Again, anything can be made to fit with a welder. ? I did, and it did indeed bolt in, but put the engine too high and too close to the core support to be practical. I ended up swapping the mounting ears on the crossmember side for side to move everything back. Quote Link to comment
