D52E
My 510 has a 200sx dogleg trans with the 200mm clutch. I remove the transmission today thinking my clutch was worn because the pedal would engage at the top of the pedal travel. Much to my surprise the clutch disk looked good. I think I might have the wrong release bearing collar. I bought the car this way several years ago and it's always engaged the clutch up higher in the pedal travel. Can someone confirm the correct release bearing collar length? I would like to confirm if I have the correct part for a 200sx dogleg trans and a 200mm clutch. Quote Link to comment
D52E
My release bearing: Table copied from the Internet. Looks like a 240mm clutch collar. Dimension L+C is 34.7mm. I still can't find the correct part for my combination of parts. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The original 510 collar will work. The 510 collar is intimately matched to work with the 510's clutch, after all it came with it. The correct collar for the 510 clutch is part # 30501-K0400. Probably what has happened is the collar from the 200sx was left on the clutch arm on the dogleg and used. The 200sx collar is matched to the 200sx clutch which (although the same 200mm diameter) probably has a different diaphragm height than the 510. The S10 200sx collar is part # 30501-K0400 The following is speculation but maybe worth trying as you have a caliper on you. Place the collar and bearing against the diaphragm fingers and measure down, from the very back of the collar, to the clutch disc contact surface on the flywheel. It should be 1.52" or just under 90mm. 2 Quote Link to comment
D52E
Dimension A looks like it's about 48.7mm (I got it as close as possible to the retainer edge). Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Here's the one for the 510 clutch, top 30501-N1601 Looks like you have 30501-0H600 1 Quote Link to comment
D52E
Thanks. I went and dug out a 510 part from a spare 4pd and it is measuring much closer. I guess I will order a replacement bearing and see. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah that 30501-0H600 is for a 240mm clutch from a D21 or Exterra. It's wrongly in the 200mm list. Quote Link to comment
D52E
Ok, more measurements. Spare L16 with stock clutch: [/url] The clutch in my car is 10mm shorter. MaybeI might want a later release collar (30501-0H600)? Edit- it looks like I have this part already. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
In post 6 that's a 510 set up right there this will work for the stock 510 clutch and the Roadster clutch as the diaprame heath is the same. I also run the 4 speed clutch fork on my 200sx 5 spped so I need its loose. as the 5 speeds came and usea different slave cylinder rod which I think is shorter. now if 200SX CLUTCH IS USED THE DIAPRAME HEIGHT IS DIFFERENT AND maybe the slave rod is to long/shot. Not positive but you have to figure this out. Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
Did you adjust the slave cylinder before removing the tranny? Quote Link to comment
D52E
I didn't adjust it since it was not an adjustable type. In retrospect I could have tried a shorter modified pushrod temporarily to see if would improve. Im still deciding if I should just buy a new clutch kit with the matching collar and call it good. I do have an early 510 fork and adjustable pushrod I can try to put in. Hopefully I get time this weekend to work on it again. 1 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
I've also seen two different length slave cylinders could yours be the longer one instead of the shorty? Quote Link to comment
D52E
It's possible that I have the wrong slave cylinder. I am not sure what the previous owner put in there. I will compare it to a stock 510 part. Edit: I went to rockauto and confirmed bore size on slave from 510 to 200sx. It looks like the 510 had a 3/4" (12/16") but the 200sx had 11/16". I will try to confirm the stroke after I put it together. Hope this weekend works out. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check the travel of the push rod. If it's 1.1" it's fine. 1 Quote Link to comment
