sick620
Cold foggy after Christmas morning. Truck drives just fine all the way to work. Couple blocks away and the pedal starts to feel a little sticky, comes up slowly and engages and disengages high up on pedal. Figured I was low on fluid or bad slave cylinder. Pulled into work parking lot and truck wouldn't go forward just reved up in first! Then from neutral won't go in gear while running. And starts in first and doesn't Rev up or go forward. I've never had symptoms of dieing clutch. Could my slave cylinder be froze a little way out or some small issue, or can it only be the clutch? :( Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You should really finish filling out your profile including what vehicle you have and where you are so I don't have to ask. 'Cold' is relative is it below freezing? Lack of fluid or loss of the hydraulic would simply leave the clutch engaged most or all of the time. I've had this and you can place in gear and use the starter but the vehicle jumps forward and starts. With difficulty you can change gears (without the clutch) but when stopping, the engine has to stall. Hydraulic problems can happen very fast. Slipping clutch. This is almost the opposite. There is weak or no connection between the engine and the wheels. The engine revs up in gear but the vehicle doesn't move or does not accelerate. Low gears work best, if at all. A slipping clutch usually occurs over time, getting worse and worse. From your description I'm going to say the hydraulic is stuck or frozen with the clutch almost entirely disengaged. There may be ice from trapped water in the line. Snow or ice slush may be jamming the clutch arm? 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
if it worked I don't think its frozen as the motor will warm things up. I think the clutch is engaged all the time stuck ENGAGED or the disc separated from the splines. or slave Jammed the rod out enoff to catch the egde of slave and not go back in but look at the slave cylinder and see what it look like (take photos) Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Or, the pilot bushing is FUBAR Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
See if the slave and clutch arm moves. If it moves at least an inch the hydraulics are fine. What vehicle? What location? 1 Quote Link to comment
