guyster
Installed Duralast wheel cylinders this weekend. Like the originals, they come with three retaining clips. For the life of me, I could only get the two with bends in them to fit. (The last clip is completely flat). The cylinder seems to be firmly in place, but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with the Duralast product and problems fitting all three clips. Also, do you think it matters if all appears to fit snugly? datzenmike
These are the C shaped ones with interlocking tabs on the ends? As long as they lock in place I guess so. I replaced some 521 cylinders back in the '70s and snapped off the small projection on the cylinder that the clips hold onto by forcing that extra clip on. Ended up using the original clips. I think they were thinner than the supplied ones. Quote Link to comment
guyster
Yes, those are the ones I'm referring to. I tried several combinations - old and new c-clips - and finally just used the two with bends. I think the Chinese cylinder may not protrude enough to get that third clip wedged in. Though, I didn't measure the cylinders side by side. I will on the next one and report back. Quote Link to comment

Dude I just went through this a few months ago it was such a pain in the ass, I think I ended up using two of the new on both side. It's nice and snug so I guess it's all good, can't wait to do the disc conversion so I don't have to deal with that crap again -_- 1 Quote Link to comment

Dolomite
I just did it too, I used one flat and one curved. It locked up tight and I'm comfortable with that. I'm hoping to upgrade to disc soon as well. 2 Quote Link to comment
shacks510
I hate the damn drums. One of mine locked up, so I pulled it apart to see wtf, and the little washer things that twist over the whateverthefucktheyrecalled, ripped off. I tried to fix them but then they wouldn't twist back on, so I just used zip ties to hold the shoes back... cuz nustar... Car isn't driving anyway. It'll have disc before it drives again. can't wait to do the disc conversion Quote Link to comment
