Was this a problem before you bought the alternator? or did this problem start after getting a new alternator? Quote Link to comment

72MAMBA
I'm going to try this ... when i remove my fuses do i use the tester on the sockets? It started doing it after my new alternator . were can i find my voltage regulator? I also switch my light bulbs on my marker light to some extra L.E.D i had laying around .but those are low voltage.. thanks for the video Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
tester goes in between tha battery as the vid. when you pull the fuse or assorted gear like the alternator the test light will go out if it was bad. SIMPLE watch vid again if light is ON then unbolt the positive wire on alt. If test light goes out its the alt bad Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Did you swap from an externally regulated alternator to and internally regulated alternator. If so you might have the wires at the "T" plug backwards. I had this issue. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
One of two things.... A/ '78 and on alternators are internally regulated and do not work in the earlier trucks without making a few simple wiring changes to remove the old external regulator. C/ It's possible that the new alternator was what we call 'bad in the box' or non working to begin with even though new. This is common with cheap $50 re-manufactured junk from China.
