Outta_OC
First post! - edited NUMEROUS times - been browsing without an account for several months but have known the existence of ratsun.net for years was originally told the engine was an "lz20" or "L20z" knew that wasn't true thanks to Google. finally found the stinkin numbers and to my disappointment it's a L18. at least it's numbers matching tho! http://www.davidcmurphy.com/olddat/index.htm at least it has a Weber and an msd coil and no points, thing runs good. drove it 500+ miles a couple weekends ago and my Speedo cable came loose or something. still haven't made it that far under the truck. I have read a ka24de swap can go in without much fabrication, can anyone clarify this? point me to a build thread? I have read a few already. Quote Link to comment
teagueauto21
If you have pics of the engine mike can tell you exactly what it is. It could be a franken motor hence the LZ20 alot of people build them. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
It's an L series head and valve cover. Can't see enough of the rest to help though. Quote Link to comment

Outta_OC
thanks for the welcome. I'm not intending to jump on here and ask for a ton of information on a swap I'll never do, but I basically answered all of my own questions from my original unedited post and threw that one out there. like I said the truck runs good, looks even better, and the way I came to own it is pretty cool, but I'll save that for another post perhaps. - so I won't be doing a swap. any southern California Datsun clubs or meets coming up a newb like me should check out? Speedo cables were still available until recently at NAPA for about $18. Type 'KA swap into 620' into the search function and start reading. How do you know it has no points? 1 Quote Link to comment
Outta_OC
pulled the cap off the distributor and looked at it. I was originally asking what engine I had (because I was told it was a 2liter. an "lz20" but a quick Google search showed that to be false.)as I previously was unable to find the numbers, until, of course, I finally posted to ask for help... then I sorta found it on my own lol... at least I finally joined. - I've been reading posts every so often for perhaps a good 6 months now.
