serum114
I'm trying to replace the "roller" in my driver window regulator. The problem I've run into is: with the window rolled down, the regulator and window track are aligned properly. But with the window rolled up, the roller is about .25" off vertically, making the window sit a little forward. Draker
That seems like a fairly simple fix with the right parts. Hopefully someone will chime in soon with a few ideas. Do you have pictures of the original rollers? 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I guess the roller is stuck, and the top half has gradually worn away. Remove the regulator and inspect. Replacing the whole thing is normal, haven't heard of anyone replacing just a roller. Quote Link to comment
serum114
The state of the window mechanism when I got to it was: the roller wheel had broke in half and was out of the track. The track had been bent back and duct-taped, I'm assuming to stop the vibration that occurred when I took the tape back off. The window was functioning fine with this "set up". I drilled out the roller and replaced it with a part that functioned seemingly perfectly once installed. photo 5 by kamran zarrabi, on Flickr photo 1 by kamran zarrabi, on Flickr However, when the window is rolled up; photo 2 by kamran zarrabi, on Flickr it leans forward causing a gap between it and the door: photo 3 by kamran zarrabi, on Flickr I then removed the roller I installed and realized that once the mechanism was in the up position the roller and track were no longer aligned and the roller was pushing the window up and forward a bit. ggzilla
Yes, with no roller it won't lift up high enough on both sides. I would replace the regulator. Or maybe replace the roller with one that doesn't bind. Quote Link to comment
serum114
Thanks Road Warrior, but thats not what I'm saying. The window worked fine without the roller, the gap only occurs with the roller in the track because they are not aligned. I'll pull the regulator to see what I can see. Quote Link to comment
john510
Arent the window linkage and regulator somewhat adjustable in the door frame ? I think the holes that everything attaches through are slotted. 1 Quote Link to comment
