MikeRL411
For whatever engine, old trick. When replacing the rear seal do NOT install the upper and lower sections flush with the block and pan. Rotate a little [5 degrees?] on both upper and lower seal halves, apply a very small dab of permatex on the exposed seal then go ahead and bolt up. This prevents a "natural" leak path along the block to pan interface. Totally guaranteed to be leak proof? Of course not but you have taken as smart a step towards insuring a long life non leak installation as you can. 1 Quote Link to comment
p3hawk
Thank you, I've replaced quite a few items in this truck. My 520, is a 1967 1300 j-13. Just incase, is the rear seal a rope or a gar-lock . Quote Link to comment
