rcjone
I have a '71 510 4 door, L20 B, A87 Peanut head, twin SU carbs. I am wanting to upgrade my braking system to the max and after a year of ordering parts online I took my car ( named Clunk ) with all the parts ordered for a 510 along with 289Z struts into the shop for the assembling. Problem is it seems that all these parts will not work with the struts. So, is there a kit or what parts do I need..? Already spent over 900 dollars and need to lo_ball while making sure it works. john510
If you're trying to do the 280zx front upgrade you need the whole strut and spindle assembly, rotors and pads. You keep the 510 springs and install them on the 280zx struts.Search for what you need you will find it on Ratsun. flatcat19
280z struts and 280zx struts are completely different as well as the brakes on them. Replacement of calipers on the 280zx strut and swapping to the 510 springs is all that needs to be done. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
How set on having this shop do the work are you?? This guys shop is an hour and a half away ( more or less ) but i am more than confident if you are paying for work done,, they could set you up lickity split... Sometimes going farther will get you there faster. https://www.facebook.com/AllAutosInc Or PM Ant to set up something . http://community.ratsun.net/user/12107-busta-nut/ 1 Quote Link to comment

You spent $900???? You should do more research and do the work yourself or you'll get taken advantage of. ZX or Maxima struts can be got for $100 a piece. (I got a pair of '84 Maxima goon struts free, calipers were good just replaced the rotors) 4 New calipers and rotors for $75? a side. Under $400 so far. Cut your 510 springs down and the perch off and put on the zx strut and support with split collars at $30 a pair. Replace the damper fluid with thicker 20W motorcycle fork oil (about $17) to improve the firmness. Firmer, lower ride height that is adjustable... total maybe $400. Quote Link to comment
