laotsu
I am installing a new timing kit and wonder wht the drawbacks and advantage of using the #3 timing mark might be. As I understand it using the third hole advances the timing and moves power down in RPM. am I right? Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Correct...........but it advances the cam relative to crank, not the timing itself Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
It will brake up in higher rpm Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I think this would be more noticable with a bigger cam and carbs. or turbo motor I could never tell between #1 and #2 running a weber DGV Quote Link to comment

Sealik
Unless it's a heavier vehicle or a low revving engine I would not advance it. I had it set at the factory No 2 position on my LZ /720 truck then hit a hill at approx 2800RPM and noted the speed. Came back and moved it to No 3 position and hit the hill again....same RPM Gained about 4MPH up the hill Swapped the LZ into the 510 and being that the car has so much torque...I plan on retarding the cam (No 1) to gain some top end. Seems like #2 is wisest for now until I can read what DanielC posted Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
my banzai car had 40s with stock w53 cam and went better with a bigger cam. Remember you got 44s . needs that air flowing to work better Quote Link to comment
