It is an interesting fact that a close relative of the pot plant is hopps. It seems most people find at least one of the two to be a close friend. In my misspent youth I did in fact manage to graft a hops to a pot root. It survived and grew a vine about a foot and a half long after, but I left it out on a hot roof and it got dried out and died. Apparently it will graft but it is reputed to simply grow into a hops plant. Quote Link to comment
