510farmer
no really i have some question about heads cylinder heads that is  i just pulled the head off my 1.6 thinking that there may have been a blown head gasket but the gasket looks good, but i found some interesting things that make me wonder what else is going one with this head this is a 210 head first thing was this and second was what looks like to be a leaky valve guide so here is where i stand i have another head that i pulled off a L20 It is A U67 they both have a 210 cam in it but it lacks the cooling ports on the exhaust, like on the head of the 210 so here come's the questions if i use this head what would be the benefits and what would be the cons? is there anything special i need to do with the use of this head? will tuning and timing change? do i have to use different headers do to the lack of water ports? if i dont have to change the header what will happen since there are no cooling ports coming off the head for replacing the head gasket what CO would be your recommendation? thx guys you all been great help im sure there will be more questions thx farmer Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Compression wil lower using the U67 head and you will run just a little bit hotter. I would think advancing your timing a little would be your only real change. This is all on an L16 motor, right? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Cooling ports are for the intake.manifold. Quote Link to comment
510farmer
Cooling ports are for the intake.manifold. why yes, yes they are! how did i get that backwards thx for the correction Compression wil lower using the U67 head and you will run just a little bit hotter. datzenmike
Compression will drop a lot, from 8.59 to 6.72!!!! I wouldn't bother except to use briefly if you get another head.Just drill two water holes to match the gasket. The U-67 cam or any L20B cam is almost exactly the same as the L16 SSS cam. This looks like the steel washer wasn't used under the head bolt and it was torqued down into the soft aluminum. Swap one of the U-67 cam towers in and before putting the rockers back on, spin the cam to see if there are any tight spots. In fact swap the U-67 cam in for a modest performance bump. . wayno
Not all L series cams say 210, mine says U20. If you put the U67 cam tower on the head and spin the cam before installing the followers, and it spins freely with no binding, you should be good. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The duration is the same I believe @ 248 but this is total and I don't think measured at 0.050" lift like most are. The L16 lift is around 0.390" at the valve. The L20B cam is 0.413". Quote Link to comment
