barricade88
I need to take out my dash cluster to solder some stuff back together. How many bolts is it and how easy is it? Will just the speedometer and other stuff come out? or will the stereo have to come out also? Quote Link to comment
Jester
Three screws up top: one in each of the three guage holes. Remove the cig lighter. Easiest with a socket, 1-1/16" I think. I pull the light dimmer out to get better access. Pull the ends off the heater switches; defrost/heat and Temp selector Pull the knob and nut off the wiper switch. Push and then turn to take off the wiper knob. If you truck has never had the dash out, there are also two screws under the lower edge of the dash in the metal part. One is near the cig lighter and the other is near the headlight switch.Radio should be OK. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The lighter has a part that unscrews from BEHIND, so you either have to reach through the radio hole or from underneath. If it's never been out they corrode into place. I've had to use channel-locks, and getting them IN there is a pain. The bottom screws are either 2 or 3, depending on if you have a tach/clock in the 3rd hole. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Unscrew the speedo cable from the back of the gauge. You may be able to push enough slack in from the engine side to allow the dash to move away enough to reach it but I find the steering wheel gets in the way first. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Just dont brake the panel as they are getting harder to find uncut or un broken one's. Quote Link to comment
