720LA
I'm wondering if anyone knows an alternative to buying an exact replacement for the turn signal switch. They're so damned expensive and my 1980 720 has a bad one. It's the non-intermittent, non- cruise control. I'm not really worried about authenticity. Right now it sort of works because I have a rubber band supplying a little bit of pull toward the dashboard. But I always have to remember to turn the left signal off. I'm pretty sure I can figure out a separate switch for the high beams. But finding an aftermarket turn signal switch that would fit the steering column might be kind of challenging. No? Anyone done it? thanks, Scott Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
'80-'Sept '82 will fit. Later ones are different but may still work. Quote Link to comment
wayno
80-82 have the wide spade connectors, anything later has narrow spade connectors, and they are not interchangeable as I recall. You have an 80 truck, so it is likely a non-tilt column, so there was a lot of changes back then in that period, some of the turn signal wires(green) came off the back of the combination switch as wires into a plug, while others were made for the plug to attach to the combination switch itself, you really need to take a photo of the back of your switch assembly so I/we can see what type you have. 720LA
Thanks all. I'm encouraged by K_trip's comments. Think that's how I'll spend my Friday off work. Maybe I can repair it. If not, I'll hit all the local pick-a-part yards. Happy holiday to all. Quote Link to comment
