MikeRL411
At least one of your valve problems is that your cam follower is not aligned with the lifter for that valve in the center of the picture! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Look for the lash pad that should be on the top of the valve spring retainer. Get it before it ends up in the oil pan. It's likely near by. Turn the engine so that the cam lobe in question is pointing UP Get the rocker arm off the pivot end closest to you in the picture and place the other end on the valve spring (with the lash pad in place) Slip a long screwdriver in from this side under the cam (but NOT on one of the lobes) and on top of the valve spring. Lift up on this end of the screw driver using the cam as a fulcrum and pry the valve spring down. This should give more than enough clearance to slip the close end back onto the pivot. Now adjust the valve lash clearance to 0.010" to allow starting. When the motor is hot check this clearance 10 thou. Actually, excessive clearance can cause what has happened so check ALL valve clearances. Intake 0.010" Exhaust 0.012" 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I'm with that guy. Find the lash pad before you discover it ended up where you wouldn't want it-in the cylinder. Scary. *Mental note-adjust valves this weekend. Someone remind me. lulz. Quote Link to comment
