Well the piston shattered and the arm dug grooves atleast 1centimeter deep into the cylinder wall. Is their a stock piston swap that is relatively easy and fair priced, possibly the A15 pistons and crank? What should i do bore it bigger or find a new block?? What are my options or is this block completely toasted????!

Thanks!

Seriously, if you want to remove the 1 centimeter gouges you will have to overbore by 2 centimeters - that's 20 millimeters! AKA about 0.8 inches! That's 800 thousands, a far cry from 20 or 30 thousands usually considered a large overbore. It's your engine! Do you seriously think you have half inch wall thickness on the bores? Look at the web between the bores on your picture.

Mike, you are using $30.00 words on a $5.00 web site......what the heck does "hyper-eutectic" mean?  You know, for those of us what ain't gots a real edumacation.

Everyone should know this as they likely have a set in their vehicle.

As far as pistons go, the eutectic point is where aluminum and silicon can be melted together and dissolves perfectly to make a uniform alloy of about 12%. Beyond this point the alloy can become the equivalent of gravy with lumps in it. Using the proper molding and temperature controls this hyper-eutectic alloy can be made uniform, and the resulting characteristics are perfect for passenger car pistons. A very strong and extremely hard aluminum alloy that does not expand much with temperature allowing tight piston to wall clearances for quiet cold start up. Hyper-eutectic car pistons are about 15% to 20% silicon. More than that and they are too brittle. Just think of glass, it's made of silicon. The more silicon, the more like glass.

Google it before Google stops giving info in November. Or learn how to use a dictonary [P.S. it's paper].

1mm over bore would need a 2mm larger piston. Nissan has them in 1mm oversize.

Maybe look through a piston catalog... perhaps a Honda piston from something could be substituted? You wouuld need to know your piston pin diameter and pin height (distance from center line of the pin hole to the top of the piston) The pin hole could be enlarged to fit a Nissan pin. You would still have to over bore your block.... ots of work. Might be worth finding a scrap A15 and stock rebuilding it.
