The manifold comes rough and to thick to bolt down properly. The washers do not sit flat enough to hold both the exhaust and the intake both tight.

So what im doing here is taking it down to just thicker than the header flange about.(050-.100) thicker. but the main issue is resolved because at least it is flat now.

Yes I agree. Even the 25 yr old ones are pretty raw. I had to mill the flange to match the header, (I think the stock exhaust mani is thicker though) and cut the soft mounts and manifold for 48's. I thought everyone did.
