Tristin
My thoughts were similar but only 1 out of 3 wires are hooked up and the truck runs Open up the dizzy and look and see if its dual points. It may have been switched to single point like early L16s. Would explain the single wire. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
A USA 521 used a second set of points, that is retarded from the primary points. This set of points is only used in third gear, part throttle, but not idle, nor wide open, with the clutch pedal not being pushed, for emissions reduction. The relay above the coil is the relay that connects the second set in parallel with the first set of points. If your 521 has a matchbox distributor, a five speed transmission, or a Weber carburetor, you are missing the switches on these components to trigger the relay, or ifg you have a matchbox distributor, yo do not have the second set of points for this system anyway. DanielC
The relay above the coil now does nothing. You can remove it. Quote Link to comment
