Hey, that's pretty cool man! Your best bet is keeping an eye out on craigslist, it's amazing what you can find. Furthemore, you're on the west coast, Datsuns seem so much easier to find there than here on the east coast. Enjoy the community bro, and if you snag a Datsun enjoy it even more. ;D You're not the only one wanting to see progress. Lol I can't wait to drive this thing! 1 Quote Link to comment

Ive tried and been looking literally every day through craigs but and i only seen 2 for sale an early 72 610 about 5 hours away from me and the owner never seems to answer calls. and a 74 that i think is a bit to over priced. But hopefully with time ill find the right one. Haha well im following your thread now hopefully soon you'll have that beauty up and running. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment

EdwardK
Bought some 1144 to make the new sway bar out of. Also checked clearances on my turbo... I need a top mount manifold. Does anyone know if the t25 that comes stock on the ca18 will mount to a t3/t4 manifold? I can't find top mount t25 manifolds.... and I certainly can't afford to upgrade to a t3/t4. EdwardK
Never mind, I'm stupid. I found adapter plates for what I need. Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Did I mention I have a five speed tranny in the car now? It's in and I'm about to fit the drive shaft in. I'll post pics after work today. 2 Quote Link to comment

EdwardK
hay man how is that 610 coming along. Chipping away at it bit by bit. I'm planning on getting the cross-member cut and flipped sometime this week if I have the time. Ordering a timing kit, godspeed exhaust header, and a new throttle body as soon as I can afford it. Also need to find some color match paint. :/ Still waiting on the title. :/ I'm not putting the engine in until I have that. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Do you know what you're going to do about clearance issues with your Brake Master Cylinder and brake distribution block? Using a top mount, my BMC is too close and the external wastegate hits the distribution block.. Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Do you know what you're going to do about clearance issues with your Brake Master Cylinder and brake distribution block? Using a top mount, my BMC is too close and the external wastegate hits the distribution block.. The distribution block would be fairly easy to relocate. But I didn't realize the BMC would be close. Is there enough clearance to wrap the bmc and turbo? Something like this? Though now realizing how close that is, I'm thinking it might be better to get a custom bottom mount that moves the turbo 2-4 inches forward. It'll be a lot easier to visualize and play with stuff like that once I've got at least the long block in the car. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Well, that pic is of a 510. Imagine the BMC sitting about 7 inches more forward than that(on account of the booster and aluminum spacer). I've considered a custom bottom mount, but I can't find much in the way of kits, so it'd end up being a home-brewed manifold of some sort.. I'm considering deleting the booster in mine and going manual brakes. I was just wondering if you had a solution to this, as it was an obstacle I'd come up against. Quote Link to comment

I haven't come up with anything no. I'm glad you pointed this out though. It never occurred to me that BMC clearance would be a problem. I I've seen some of our NASA-SE race-cars with relocated master cylinders. I'll have to ask around next weekend while I'm at the track see if I can come up with anything.. Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Ahahaha! I just saw this. While amusing, I dunno how much I'd trust it. Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Woof, manual brakes with 170 whp? But then again. I have no frame of reference honestly! lol Knee-jerk reaction. I'm sure with the right master manual brakes would be fine. I went out and was looking at the master on my Z31. It's short enough to have plenty of clearance. I just wonder if it would put out enough pressure without the booster... Maybe I'll go for a drive with the booster unhooked. lol Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Might could also do this: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/52941-power-steering-510/page-2 It's for a 510 but surely it could be modified to fit 610. It'd be a looot of work. Anyway, I'm done running around in the cold taking measurements so that's all I've got for tonight. Quote Link to comment

The power steering box looks even bigger than the manual steering box.. not seeing how this is going to remedy the hitting the BMC problem.. but a lot more work like you said, none the less :) Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
The more I look the more I like the idea of swapping to a different MC that doesn't need a booster. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
I'm thinking it might be better to get a custom bottom mount that moves the turbo 2-4 inches forward This. Assuming it's not a huge turbo. And if CG matters to you, you'd be moving 30-40 pounds about a foot lower. Quote Link to comment

I'd love to have a low cg, but my pockets probably aren't deep enough to go this route. :/ Quote Link to comment

Probably so. I'll holler if I find anything. Then maybe don't think about a turbo engine swap... ^_^ Lol Fair enough. I bought the car and engine right before I got laid off. I'm just itching to drive it is all and looking for a route that isn't there. Quote Link to comment
