Z20E (6") con rods?

so I pulled an engine out of a n '82 720 a couple months ago. the vin plate said it was a Z22S and I never checked the stamp on the block. I go to sell it to Rollovered and he points out that it's stamped as a Z20, so I sell him my private reserve Z22E because it's the right thing to do since he drove like 200 miles round trip for the block.

I started pulling the pistons and crank today to get the block ready for boring and I checked the con rods. HORRY SHEET they are stamped N85! so I measure 'em. They measure out to six inches and not the shorter five and three quarters. From what I can tell I have a set of the much sought after Z series long rods.

Am I wrong? Or am I one lucky son of a bitch?

Not really lucky. What you have is a Mileage Option Z20S motor. 9.5 compression, probably small dish pistons, special small combustion chamber Z head. It even has a knock sensor and ignition retard.
