HEy man nice truck and welcome. White smoke is bad. Most likely your head head gasket is blown and needs to be replaced. Basically water is getting sucked into the cylinder and gets burned up and comes out white. Head gasket is not too difficult on a L motor, but on a J motor im not sure. I've nbecer done one on a J motor.

 

Highly recommend getting one of these:

very useful.

 

As for the fender hit up skib on here. he was parting out a 521 recently. Not sure what he has left but worth a shot. He's in Sac too.

should have past on this unless it was a reaaly really good deal ,like FREE.

J motors are harder to get parts for unless your in the know(On here).

old rigs like this you better be good at using tools.

If you got a job where they will be on you for being late. Better have another car.

These should not be used as a ONLY driver.

 

I DD a datsun and I know what it takes to keep a 40 yr old rig running.
