abbylind
I've got a 77 620 20L with a stock carb, manifold, and exhaust Runs pretty well right now. I got a Weber Outlaw carb and I'm thinking about installing. Now I'm wondering if its too much for the truck. I live at 7200 ft ASL normally drive around in a mile high altitude I'm assuming I'll have to re-jet at minimum. Board members suggestions? TIA Quote Link to comment
highdesertdatsun
Is that a weber progressive ? Quote Link to comment
abbylind
Heres the description... 38 DGES Carburetor. Two Barrel Synchronus Carburetor. Electric Choke. Quote Link to comment
highdesertdatsun
if it runs well now forget about it . the carb is recomend by weber for cammed up engine with header/ intake from what I read on worldpac. save that carb for a souped up rig . thats what I think about that . abbylind
I found this too The power of a DCOE sidedraft without the complication and setup headaches! The "Outlaw" is a twin 38mm synchronous choke downdraft. It's bigger than the standard 32/36mm DGV downdraft and both barrels open together, creating more horsepower and greater off the line torque. It will fit on the standard downdraft manifold and uses the same air filter and linkage kit. Perfect for stage 1 and stage 2 applications, although many owners have fitted them to stock engines with good results. Quote Link to comment
abbylind
Im thinking that too.. I get decent mileage with the old Hitachi...maybe just a rebuild to keep it running Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
a 38 will work on an L20, but it needs to be jetted right or youll get no power, and v8 mileage.. if you have it already, the check what jets are in it, and maybe call weber direct to see if theyre the right ones for a 2liter application. Dawa
yea but the the 32/36 was made for you to get the best of both worlds (mileage and performance.) Quote Link to comment
Dawa
but if your engine is in good condition, and you got the extra money, go for it. of course itll respond better to better breathing mods but starting with a 2.0 L is a good start Quote Link to comment
abbylind
Maybe I'll swap for a 32/36? Quote Link to comment
highdesertdatsun
at a high alt. sure you can jet it but if you look up jet sizes make sure they aplly to your altitude also verify you have a good spark and both advances are working prior to the process or reading plugs to check jets will be missleading . you dnot want to loose your bottom end stick with smaller carb .
