The pictures i posted shows the Link that keeps getting stuck. At half throttle the, it gets stuck and I have to tap the pedal to get it to release again. Anyone have this issue or possible know a fix? Carb is less than two months old. The linkage Im referring to is to the right of the linkage running vertical. Quote Link to comment

izzo Posted April 11, 2013 Report Share Posted April 11, 2013 Is it a real weber or an empi? Can you find out if its the linkage or the carb making it stick? Being that its new, i'd be surprised if it was gunked up making it stick... Leave the car off, make it stick and find out what exactly is sticking and report back. Quote Link to comment

I cant see why the throttle stays open, nothing is binding that I can see and the throttle cable is free. The linkage itself even feels tough. Maybe the nut is too tight? I had to flip the linkage for it to work on my truck. When it sticks, that linkage stays up, if you tap it back down, the throttle returns back to normal. I should add, it doesnt start sticking until you get a few miles on it, Id say 8-10 miles and then it starts sticking. Tap the pedal and it idles back down. I got it from WeberCarbs direct, it doesnt have the weber stamp on the casting like a true weber. Quote Link to comment

I have, however, rewound the factory one one more turn to get more closing power. But, when it sticks, rather than tapping the throttle, shut the engine off and move the linkage by hand. You should be able to see where it sticks. Edit: Yes, you could have the nut on too tight. It should move freely. If it doesn't have a Weber cast into the body, it's an EMPI, which are cheap Chinese junk clones. Quote Link to comment

I had a feeling it wasnt a true weber when i got it. Kit wasnt as described, no stamp, and the price was well below what I was expecting to pay. shrug. I know redline sells them but I cant figure out a price nor how to order one. Even being a junk clone, Ethol runs 100% better since the install. Edit: It has a return spring but its not in the picture. Im going to try and rig something up when I get off work. Quote Link to comment
izzo Posted April 11, 2013 Report Share Posted April 11, 2013 ^^ If it is an empi, that would explain it. It's very common for this to happen on EMPI. You'll need a strong return spring, and or their retarded throttle cable setup. nismo dr had some issues with his too, but he had an L series 521... it might be in his old thread somewhere. bryant2482 Posted April 13, 2013 Report Share Posted April 13, 2013 i had the same problem with mine a few months ago. i would open both carb valves and the secondary valve would get stuck open! sometimes tapping the gas pedal wouldnt work, i had to pop the hood and close it by hand. i found out that it was gummed up from not opening it up at full throttle for long periods of time (just a guess) or the gas out here in vegas is shit lol Quote Link to comment

Seems to only do this in stop and go traffic when engine is hot. It is not the linkage saying open it is something in the butterfly I think............ soooooo turn off engine when it does this and have a look. ??????? Quote Link to comment

Draker Posted March 3, 2015 Report Share Posted March 3, 2015 I had this on a webber I just cleaned up. Appeared to be some gunk on the linkage that was causing resistance. I just tore it down and cleaned the linkages and springs. Nice and snappy now. Quote Link to comment
