DaveyDaveDaveDave
Hate to ask this sh*t, but really. How bad is this (egr hose off of exh mani)? And is this not the PCV? Its a 77 620, stock w/ hitachi, joined intake and exhaust. The crank case vent (block vent, whatever) plumbs to a different, unvalved port on the air cleaner (just a tube that leads to inside the air filter), and theres nowhere on the intake for a PCV. EGR is deleted as well. This thing fits the same size hose, has a spring loaded valve and enters the air cleaner outside the filter. The valve moves easily if you poke it with a screwdriver. Id rather not modify the egr blockoff (LAZY) esp. if its supposed to plumb to the air cleaner. Quote Link to comment
darrel
that valve is the air relief valve, comes from the air pump. The place where the pcv valve is located is not bolted on in that pic, but yes, the pipe from the block would use a formed hose with different diameters and hook onto the pcv valve. A pcv valve would rattle when shaken, it is not spring loaded. pcv valve air relief valve pcv hose Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The PCV used to be attached to the manifold, in a bolt-on casting that contained both it and the EGR assembly. Someone has removed it, so you have nowhere to hook it up. That part off the air cleaner was a relief port for the air injection (air pump) system, which is also missing. Looks like some redneck "rip out the smog stuff to hell with the consequences" job. That EGR removal at the exhaust looks like an engine room fire waiting to happen. It doesn't even look crimped off. One massive exhaust leak pointing right at the firewall, which knowing the 37 year old rubber seals, means it's directing exhaust right into the cab. Quote Link to comment

The block vent should go to a PCV valve on the intake. If there isn't one make one or put everything back on. The valve cover hose should go to the air filter not the block vent. This truck come to you this way????? Quote Link to comment
kelowg
i too have blocked off egr ports on intake. but have drilled and tapped block off plate, threaded pcv vlave into plate and ran hose to block vent. Quote Link to comment

The valve cover hose is hooked up properly. Theres another port on the underside of the air cleaner near the firewall that opens to the down stream side of the air filter. Only downside i can see to using it is more gunk going thru the carburetor? Then I dont have to F with the block off plate. Quote Link to comment
