Im going to be completely honest and say I am not a mechanic, I know the basics but Ive been in love with these little cars for about 3 years but never had the cash to afford one. But this August I acquired a very good job to get either this or a frs (another car i want) but i went with this. One of the best choices i ever made. So I already knew that it was going to be alot of work, time, patience and money. But it doesnt really matter because i finally have one and its worth it to me. Im making this post to ask questions, hopefully receive alot of help and knowledge. Once again I am a NOOB, (for now, muhahaha) so please do not troll on here. Ill post alot of pictures and videos to let you guys get a understanding of whats going on. Averaje Posted March 30, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 30, 2013 Well lets start this off right. Problems so far. Big or Small you decide. from what I know so far. Im going to need new bushing for front suspension, it squeaks alot and it is really irritating, also having a hard time braking, (im down-shifting to help me slow down) o yeah this is my first manual car too (FTW) So i went to a friends mechanic today just to do a inspection today and here is what he wrote on the paper. ( he also showed me everything as well) -Master Cylinder is leaking -Rear Brake Wheel cylinder -Rear Brake shoes -Front Right Bearing -Outer and inner Seals -Flush All System Parts from Bendix Apart from that. White smoke is coming from breather tube on valve cover and exhaust, he said its coolant burning. And it is idling a bit rough, i dont if it has anything to do with timing or valves needing to be adjusted or what but i would love some information to hop on it, And no the mechanic will no do everything. Averaje Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 So i did my first oil change today on her, and it was awesome...lol, next im going to replace head gaskets then, bushing for font suspension, my friends has 510 and he gave me his never used rear bushings for mustace bar and rear control arm. then I have to do a valve adjustment, and im now sure what else yet, thats just the thing the previous owner recommended. new rear bushings and head gasket set also manuals and random happy camper pics. 1 Quote Link to comment

Averaje Posted April 10, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2013 thanks everybody, so since i dont have a garage im kinda paranoid parking it on the street, but I thought about and remembered that there are 3 other 510's in long beach that seemed fine, And since i live in a good neighborhood I brushed it off, Until......One of the guys next door runs to my car as im pulling away telling me that someone was taking pictures of my car, I dont know if he was admiring it or what, but iIam freaking out now. !!! I live in Compton so i completely understand the feeling, my truck(DD) was stolen from right out in-front of my house a few months ago :(, i never really planned on parking the datsun outside but now i DEFINITELY don't plan on leaving it parked outside... i'm picking up my engine from the builders today so i should have mine running and on the road soon, maybe we can meet up and cruise somewhere... -Rob Quote Link to comment

Averaje Posted April 18, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 18, 2013 So driving home from today i hear pieces of metal falling then when i go to slow down my steering wheel starts shaking...." ahhh ma gawd " so i pull over to to check underneath but my car is to low i cant examine it, so the garage where i work on here is about 5 blocks down so i decide to go and check it out. and this is what i find. broken strut rod .>.< so now i have to find a new one, anybody know any vendors or anyone who is selling a RIGHT SIDE strut rod.
