Silas
I was driving down the highway when my truck started to die every time I stepped on the gas. If I let off the gas it would Idol but then it just died. Now it will not start. It wants to turn over when I turn the key but wont. What kind of a problem would you say this is? Maybe the Carburetor? I was hoping someone could enlighten me????!!!! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
ran out of gas acell pump on carb? see if gas is being squired in the main barrel of carb.cycle the linkage. If see no squirting of gas the bowl is emply fuel float/needle valve letting gas in the carb. all else fails, replace the passenger rear turn signal bulb Quote Link to comment
Silas
No I just filled it with a half tank! Quote Link to comment

79datsun620
sure does sound like lack of fuel. maybe filter is clogged. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
has to be a big Clog!!!!!!!!! most time if filter is plugg is youll lose the top end as the float bowl empties But at idle it barely uses any gas unless the idle jet plugs up at the same time. or this all failed(fuel pump) and plugged up at the same moment. I think the fowl was going low where you loss the acell pump then just ran out of gas in the bowl. needle valve on carb stuck closed accel pump diapgram bad fuel pump. I can hpefully assume you cked for spark and not say its elelctrical Quote Link to comment
cg78
First off what carb is on it? If you have the hitachi carb there is a little screen on the top of the carb at the fuel inlet. They get clogged and do exactly what you describe. My 720 did this once and it took me a while to figure it out, but once the screen was cleaned it was good as new. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the fuel filter is clogged? Then take output hose off fuel pump and start car and see if gas shoots out!!!!! should be alot of gas shooting out Quote Link to comment
Buzzbomb
If it's the fuel pump, kill two birds with one stone. WHen you replace it, replace the fuel filter too. Otherwise, you might wind up back in the same predicament sooner than you think. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Look at the sight glass on front of carb, is there gas at the half way mark??? Do as Hainz says and pull your hose and crank into a pail (did I just say that?) Gas? no gas? Replace in line filter, pull inline filter hose off and blow in end. Do you hear bubbling in the tank. If so then the line is clear. Pour a couple of tablespoon fulls of gas in garb and fire up. Don't look down carb when doing this, I did say 'fire up'. Quote Link to comment

Llittle_Llama
i would replace with a see through filter, not to be simple minded, but i though there was a bigger problem with mine till i replaced it with one and then i saw all the rust coming in from the tank, glad i bought that one! banzai510(hainz)
truck have the filler hose in the wheelwell. Dirt and water get in there very ez. MY 521 the previos owner said his tank would read higher on a rainy day. Replace the fuel tube.!!!!!!!!with good clamps so no dirt gets in there. Truck its best to run the stock filtaer and maybe a inline clear plastic/glass one also as in my 521 Quote Link to comment
