eliandzekespapa
I just bought a 620 and I'm trying to give it the once over(simple tune), but the crank pulley is showing the usual 36 years of rust. Is there an actual notch cut into the pulley I can feel for to mark? Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
More of a tiny little nick, on the back edge, get a wire brush on it and it should show its self. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Geeez.... I just realized that I've been telling people to look on the rear pulley but it's the next one forward that the timing scale reads to. Quote Link to comment

RedBanner
Huh, I am looking at one now (on an aseries) and its on the back edge, guess I should open my hood and check or i should just shut up. Quote Link to comment
eliandzekespapa
Yeah its actually cut into the backside edge of the second pulley...I found it. Thankx for all the help, folks. But now I have new problems...all I've done so far is put a new air filter and plugs in and now it won't stay lit at idle speed. I checked the timing and as far as I can tell its 12 degrees before tdc( it's kid of a cramped spot to see). It also waivers at idle when it does stay lit. I don't have the tools on hand to check but it may be down on compression on #4...............BOOOOOOOO! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
paint the notch flor yellow or white. model paint Quote Link to comment
darrel
the notch does seem kind of weird. 2l in my '79, I have to bend the timing gage to get the air pump belt on and off. So it covers both edges of the back pulley. Quote Link to comment
