Pacific coast Datsun
Im not an expert but those kits should fit any 4 cyl. L motor. Now im not sure if yours is a dual point dist. & theres a chance it may not work if it is. Hainz & or Datsunmike will know the answer. A cheaper way to convert to electronic ignition is to score a matchbox off a Datsun at a junkyard & then it's just a matter of splicing a few wires. In fact they fit into big pockets quite easily ;) Quote Link to comment
pl521sss
It won't work on a dual point distro if that's what you have (very likely). You need single point for Pertronix. And it's part number # 1741 Matchbox type dizzy are hard to come by in the JY. Let alone older Datsuns Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The Pertronix only fits the single point dist, and pretty much all 1970-73 Datsuns had dual point stock. The Pertronix fits the 68-69 single-point dist perfectly, and SOMETIMES fits the '74-75 large-cap single-point. You have to modify the 75-77 L20B dist to make it work- there's a ring boss on the rotor drive spindle that is in the way that must be removed to fit the magnet ring on it. I have seen a dual-point setup made to work with a pertronix, but that involved modifying the pertronix itself, and getting it timed requires a bit more patience. Quote Link to comment
Duke
I have a distributor already converted over to pertronix that I could give up for the righ price. PM me if you are interested. Quote Link to comment
