ggzilla
Redline Weber is a distributor in USA. Weber makes the carburetors. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Does Redline do any upgrades to the Weber carb? I'm looking to buy it on eBay if my Hitachi still won't work. It's just that the pictures are different and Redline says the filters are reusable? Is it just that the weber picture is an old picture of what the 32/36 used to look like. That's my guess. And there priced different. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Redline is a store that sells genuine Weber carbs and Weber parts. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
So there really isn't a difference, one just one 32/36 kit cost more than the other? Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Also, before I put the carb back on what should I check to see if there's anything internal that could be wrong? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I did see a little piece of something in the chamber of where the needle closes off. Can't explain it very well but yeah. It was down the chamber where you have to take that bolt off to see down at the needle. The piece was about 3 by 3 mm big. So did you check this out and remove it? Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Yes I did. I put it back together and now ready to be put back on tomorrow. Is there anything else I should check like internals? Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
So it didn't work out so I went ahead and bought a Weber 38/38. What do you guys think? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Fixing your Hitachi is cheaper. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The Weber will have an even worse time with flooding if the fuel pump pressure is as high as you say. Weber requires 3 psi max. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Hope you don't have emissions in that part of Nevada, because a 38 likely won't pass. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
We do but I can put classic plates, that's what I have right now. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
So you guys say my fuel pump could be the problem and it might be so.... What fuel pump do I get? Or can I get a fuel pressure regulator? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, and yes. But test it first. Put a pressure gauge in the line and test the pressure while the engine is idling. The reason you want to test it is because many new pumps are out of spec too. Unless you buy a genuine Nissan pump $$$ I wouldn't trust any of the cheap pumps. Most vacuum gauge troubleshooting tools can check fuel pressure too NX Tools $16 Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Yeah I have one at my house. I was gonna do that once I get it running again. If its more than 3 or 3 1/2 psi I'm gonna use a fuel pressure regulator. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
As long as the fuel return line is hooked up......I doubt you'll have problems with too much fuel line pressure with the 38. I ran with..... and without the regulator....no difference. You did buy the Z24 kit from Redline? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, most Hitachis will work with 5psi too. But it is not guaranteed -- and if the carb is overflowing, then it caused by something. That's the time to be suspicsous. Weber is very adamant about 3psi, they don't warranty that it will work at higher pressures. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Yes I did. Well my dad works at a shop where they get some of their parts from Worldpac so he got it through his work from Worldpac. From what my dad was told is that Worldpac owns Redline so basically, he didn't actually get it FROM Redline, he got it from the company who owns Redline. I don't know how Worldpac works with Redline but I went to the their site and they sell Redline parts. Maybe they tell Redline and they send it to them idk........ Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
So I installed my Weber 38/38. I'm amazed how good Weber is. I underestimated them to be honest but not anymore. What I did: Took the intake and carb. off, cleaned everthing on intake, ported it a little bit, cleaned the corrosion off the intake valves, put it back together with new intake and thermostat gasket, put it back together, made some mods to the throttle cable bracket, fired it up, tuned it.....................................and now, I couldn't be happier. I'll post pics and a video on my build thread. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, if your existing carburetor is bad, a New Weber will make it run good again. Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Yes, I'd say it was pretty bad. Now to get a new exhaust system and center support for my 2-piece driveshaft. The parts costs $91 some + tax. I want to get a 1 piece driveshaft which will be cheaper if I get one at my junkyard but I have to measure how long my tranny is so I know which one to get. _chiefjt
Hope you don't have emissions in that part of Nevada, because a 38 likely won't pass. Actually we do have emissions. I just got the emissions and EGR lines hooked and and it passed smog easily. Gonna make a vid and post it on my build thread. Check it out sometime. Quote Link to comment
