KA24 and L20b Questions, Comparisons.

Wassup ratsun.

I need answers from someones with both KA and L engine experience.

I search, I lurk, I read a lot of shit on Ratsun. I'm going to be as specific as possible.

In a 620, how does a stock KA24E compare to an L20B in terms of power, fuel consumption, drive-ability, simplicity, longevity, and most importantly, reliability?

How does a mildly built l20b compare to a stock l20b in terms of fuel consumption, longevity, and reliability?

I.E. stroker 2.2 with flat tops and some su's.

How does a stock KA compare to said built l20b?

What are the pros and cons of single cam KA vs twin cam KA?

KA has over 50% more power and torque.

Close to same fuel consumption but less if driven hard.

EFI trumps carb for drive ability, cold starting and running.

KA-E are known for badly designed timing chain guides but ok if changed every 80K. Es have hydraulic cam followers that can get noisy... no way to adjust. Probably as reliable if maintained properly but likely not a tolerant as an L series if not.

Any 'build' is going to increase wear and tear in proportion to how built it is. Mild to wild. The L series is over built to begin with which makes it extremely rugged. I would bet on a 2X (200hp) L20B to last much longer than a 2X (300hp) KA24E.

Always go with larger displacement motor. It's not working as hard.

DE makes 10-15 more hp but you should never pick a motor over another on such a narrow difference. I have no experience with either but would prefer the E over the DE. Es seem simpler and closer to an L/Z series that I'm more comfortable with. Better ask someone else.

Having driven daily a l20, ka24e, ka24de, ka24det

Besides the turbo motor I liked the single cam Ka I had in my 1989 240sx the most for both fun an reliability.

But the 4G54 2.6 liter Mitsubishi inline is still my favorite 4cylinder engine of all time, specially boosted like in the starion, holy shit what a fun and fast car

Well now that I have some income again I'm going to be rebuild my L asap. Burning oil is getting expensive.

2.2 with flat tops

premium gasoline :sneaky:

port matching

EFI

Think that set up could make 150hp (well, not at the wheels) while still getting 20mpg+ ?

What pistons should I look for to bore it over?

Yes with.EFI youll have to add.electrinics

Use overdrive and.3.3 gears,.or better yet an S15 six-speed

6 speed would be awesome.

I don't know what rear end I have. It's a 77 KC that was originally automatic.

40 sounds like a challenge B)

The way I drive, 25+ is fine with me.
