Hooligan
Been looking at this as well. Between the rear 2 frame crossmembers front to back is roughly 18". Frame rail side to side is roughly 36". Now.... the problem is if you go flush to the bottom of the bed, 10 inches will bring you almost to the bottom of the license plate. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Thanks hooligan.I got almost 38" from inside frame rails for mounting purposes, now with that said it is about 36".And as for the 10" like he said flush will bring you down 1.25" under the plate.so flush mount it and move the filler in the bed right under the tank. Hope this help. 1 Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
I would be welding in new cross bars from side to side. I am kinda following this set up. You guys think a 20gal is over kill? lol 1 Quote Link to comment
Hooligan
LOL.... if you can fit it in why not. At the very least you wouldn't have to fuel up as much Quote Link to comment
Hooligan
Are you planning on the same parallel 4 link or triangulated? Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
Lotta gas man. my 86 720 is 10 gallon. Problem with those big tanks is sometimes they get deeper, which may really kill your departure angle or entry angle going in/ out drive ways etc. My advise get it up as high as you can, before it crashes into the bed floor and get it as close to the diff as possible. or look into buying or getting a fuel cell made with a angle on the bottom. 1 Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
well both the 15 and 20 gal are 10 inches deep. only difference is how long its is i think one is 18 and the other is 24. Jesusno2 what are you planning on putting the filler to? straight out the bed? Quote Link to comment
