Rustina 510
Little update. I have everything off but rod #2 won't let go of the crank and is really pinched on their. And the crank looks pretty damaged, looks like I might need to get a new one, I was able to clear the rod cap that was in 3 pieces Hopefully I can break it lose tomorrow Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
We got the crank out, doesn't look to good, block looks pretty good though so I guess that's something positive. I think I might need a new crank, does anybody do a regrind on cranks? Is a de crank the same as a single cam crank Pics The rod of death Quote Link to comment

ssnapz
crower makes a 2.6 stroker kit, comes with crank rods and pistons. i think its like $2600 though if its in your budget that would be fun Quote Link to comment
Draker
Store your crank either in the block or standing up on the flywheel end. Any other way will result in further damage to the crank. Quote Link to comment
alabama_lowlife
Store your crank either in the block or standing up on the flywheel end. Any other way will result in further damage to the crank. Why exactly is that? Out of curiosity. Quote Link to comment
Draker
Because they don't sit flat if you lay them down. It's even worse if you store them horizontally supported on the ends. They are very heavy will deflect on them selves from their own weight. Small amounts of deflection can be machined out.. but too much and you've got scrap metal. Quote Link to comment

Rustina 510
All they have is the dual cam stroker kit so again. Is it the same block and crank for the dual and single cam Ka? Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
So the dual cam is different from the single cam. The snout is longer on the single cam because the distributor runs differently from the 2. So the stroker idea doesn't seem to be a viable option sense crower stroker kit is set for the dual cam engine Quote Link to comment

Thx for the tip, I called and they said a true regrind 100$ Hot tank, 100$ including some additional work to the oil and water passages Port & polish, 80$ a hour :( So two of three isn't bad Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Regrind crank, means undersizing of the connecting rod/main bearings. Its opposite of boring a motor. Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Actually what I have read a little about and was told by previously said company, they can add material "metal" back to the crank and do what they called and I repeated as a true regrind. Dude was really cool and very happy to be helping with a Datsun project, can't remember his name but he was very cool to talk to Quote Link to comment

Rustina 510
I've been looking fr a stroker crank for the single cam, I'm really interested in a ka26e-r, only a few have ever been built as far as I can find... Quote Link to comment
Draker
I wouldn't waste your time on it. For that kind of cash you can do a turbo SR. Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
But that's just it draker. I don't want a sr, I want a single slammer Ka with some major balls Quote Link to comment
