cdub42
I was on my way to work today when my throttle linkage got stuck at WOT. I just created a hill and was down shifting. Blew past a cop rapping it out. Made the suicide lane and coasted into a gas station parking lot. If I was smart I woulda turned the key off but it all happened too fast. Bought a can of WD-40 and hit the whole linkage with it. And off to work I went. I'm gonna check it before I head home. Anyone recommend a lubricant for the ball ends? I was thinking a Teflon based spray. Quote Link to comment
San Maru
Similar thing happened to me on a 280zx. An electrical connector boot fell apart, CSV plug I think, and got stuck under the linkage. It is shocking. I was pressing the clutch and then panicked as the engine RPM went way up, then I shifted to 5th. In and out with the clutch till I made a parking lot to shut it off. I would just use white lithium grease myself. Quote Link to comment
Draker
Similar things can happen on the VG30DE(TT) scary scary stuff if you're boosting like a MF'er Gotta act quick! Cop didn't have anything to say to you? Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
ouch ... glad you didn't wreck. That's strange. I had that happen to me in a Subaru loyale 1.8liter (carbed) ... stuck wide open on freeway ... gutless 4wd goon though ,,, lol I simply turned it off and on to drive home the last 3 miles ... maybe kill switch for you cdub ? I like white-lithium , but there are different formula's. Not sure what it would do to the plastic rotator-cups ? (if anything at all) Silicone lube is good stuff , but has to be applied often. Teflon spray of some-kind actually sounds ideal ! Check the rotator-cups ... *occasionally* these wallow-out and fracture/spread (micro-fractures BUT they look ok) you should have (2) return springs I think .. should be fairly weak I know you know this stuff just covering bases :) Quote Link to comment
darrel
Used to happen on my '82 turbo. The floor mat would always get under the gas pedal. Quote Link to comment
