datzenmike
The throwout bearing you just buy at NAPA. The collar that holds it is another story. I assume a stock 200mm flywheel and clutch? Link to comment
goonfan
Yeah NAPA kits don't come with the clip... I'll take a look through my arts and let you know. If I do have one it's from a 4 speed, the same part I believe. Link to comment
DatDoug
Yah 4 & 5 the same. L16 or L20? They are different. I have both. Link to comment
edakotaford
i Need the Fork and the collar+clip for the connection. it will be used on an L20b. Link to comment
datzenmike
The 4 and 5 speed 71B forks are the same. Jrock recently put a 71B into a 521 and used the stock F4W63A speed fork (same as the stock 510 4 speed) and it works too apparently. Link to comment
edakotaford
right on, good to know. The big thing i am concerned with is i've heard there are different sizes of collars. like different depths. Link to comment
datzenmike
What size flywheel/clutch are you using? 200mm is used on all L16s, almost all L18s and all car L20B and Z20 motors. Truck L18s, L20Bs and Z22s are 225mm. Link to comment
DanielC
When I put a Z-car five speed in my 521 years ago, I just used the 521 stock four speed fork, and throwout bearing, and collar. used a 521 slave cylinder too. Link to comment
datzenmike
I figured it should work but when I did my 5 speed swap I set them side by side and there are subtle differences. I was afraid it wouldn't work although all measurements are the same, so I kept the 280zx fork to be safe. Anyway very good to know for sure that they will work. (that's not a butt, it's a broken off tranny breather) Link to comment
edakotaford
oh okay! well, i am not quite posative. i am unaware of what clutches i can use with each. I was under the impression that i can only use a roadster clutch on the 200mm, but i also did some reading and found that you can use KA clutches on some of the older flywheels? i have been thinking about buying a fidanza lightened flywheel off of Summit, but also am unsure of what to do. I need a clutch that can hold up to roughly 180-200 whp. (i bought the turbo motor from jeff's blue 68 2 door) Link to comment
datzenmike
Measure the clutch contact diameter on your flywheel. Car L20B flywheels were usually 200mm and if so, a Roadster 200mm clutch will fit it and should handle 200hp. Measure across the shiny surface. Link to comment
edakotaford
And if it is a 225mm then can i use Ka24 clutches? Link to comment
