Vorsach
After looking forever I finally found one, she needs some work, but overall in pretty decent shape, except the suspension that is almost completely destroyed... A few bad rust spots Needs driver/passenger floor pans Speedometer doesn't work Quote Link to comment

Vorsach
Thanks, yeah its going to take a while, but she'll come together... Suspension just came today, so that'll ne on in the next couple of days... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Ha I didnt realize that was under the hood when you showed up. Hopefully soon we can throw that box of parts on the car to get it riding a little better for you. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Cool, that's an SR20 right? Must be fun! Shoot me a PM if you need a hinge to replace that broke one. I may have some metal, that you can have, that might work for those floors too. Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Yep sr20, it is pretty fun, a lot more fun that any other car I've owned, except the transmission is starting to feel kind of sketchy... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Our shop can weld in new floors for you too whenever you get them... Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Awesome!, lol, looks like I'm going to be spending a lot of time at your shop... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Haha yeah, we can do anything you can imagine. Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Well, looks like those coilovers won't fit unless I find stock calipers/disc or just a shorter disc so the brakes can hook on to the coilover, I need strut tower mounts... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Well those brakes look like they are stock 510 brakes... Are you sure that those coilovers are not for a 510/280zx version? That would explain why your hubs and such will not mount up correctly. Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
I'm pretty sure, I called the place right after I ordered them, but they might of sent the wrong ones, I'll call them back and double check... But see on the bottom picture, the two holes where the brakes screw on, when the rotor is on, they don't reach all the way, and the screw that holds the disc on the end of the spindle thing, doesn't fit on the conversion kit, it's way too big... Not only that, but it turned out the strut tower mounts were modified too, so I need a new set of those also... Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
The old struts and brakes that were on the car look like 280zx. for sure they are not stock, stock ones are not vented. That's an upgrade, going to stock 510 brakes and struts is a big step backwards IMHO. I am pretty sure that 280zx brakes will not adapt to a 510 strut. If you ordered "510 coilovers" you probably got converted 510 struts. Where did you get them from? Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
Yeah those are vented rotors. No way those are stock 510 discs. Quote Link to comment
Tristin
These are 280zx brakes... You can tell the difference between what he has and what I have for calipers. His discs may just be aftermarket. The coilovers he bought are from Techno which have a 280zx/510 and a 510 option. Vorsach... whats wrong with the coils you already have installed on the car? They look pretty dirty, but I dont see anything broken on them. If they are blown, you might be able to just have the inserts rebuilt. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
The original brakes dont look like ZX to me either,,, mine have that piece of metal bulging out across the caliper next to the hub..I dont know early zx stuff though as mine is an 83.. Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
The ones on the car are dead, springs, shocks, and the top that screws in on the top... Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Could be maxima struts and brakes but they would bolt up the same as zx stuff. Pretty sure that's not aftermarket stuff. A lot of guys swap struts left to right when doing the zx /maxima swap for clearance, thats why the caliper is on the front on your car. Factory they are on the back. I still think these are a variant of the zx. I'm positive that the zx rear calipers look different year to year... Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
On the strut casing it says Nissan 5430304f02 Atsugi Japan 5 Y 2 5 That's all I know about them... Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Hobbes, I believe you're right about them being from a maxima... Was googling stuff, and I found this http://community.ratsun.net/topic/24412-my-76-710-goon/page__st__60 Quote Link to comment
Vorsach
Also found this, if you scroll down to the conversion kit, the discs (except for all the holes and color) look identical, and the calipers are identical too... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29503-why-280zx-struts/page__st__20 Quote Link to comment

Im actually second guessing myself now. The thread said said that the 200sx strut tube has a larger cup on the bottom than the 510 and 280zx struts. That would be an easy way to check of they are 200sx units. Quote Link to comment
datsunwizard
If they are 200SX then the hole on the bottom are 54mm, the stock 510 and 280zx are 40mm. Quote Link to comment
